Hangman

click for bigger

starting to put ideas and concepts together for the "Innsmouth" project idea. off to an admittedly confused start, think i've got some more ideas gathering to do and might also need to recover the book i gave away (sorry!).
this is a figure i drew to be part of a larger scene which i've not yet quite worked out. didn't make the inner lines dotted on this like i usually do, which was a mistake i think.

sometimes, i regret the things i draw

usually it comes from when i sit down and think "i'll just draw whatever".

another innsmouth picture, going to take advantage of my gallery spots next week and get some sketches of the church so i can hopefully build this into something a little more coherant.

firespider

drawn with FIRE!
(and lemons)

i need to find a better developing method next time, maybe an iron, or sticking it over the log fire next time it's going. the candle method is a little patchy, also the other two pictures i made set alight...

...not to be tried at home kids.

headless priest

cliiiiiiick!

although this was done on a4, i am very conscious of the fact that my drawings are starting to get smaller again.

pencils

One of two drawings I started today but didn't finish. As you can see, this started as a seated figure but, because I begun at about half 10 at night, when I couldn't get the legs to work I just cut them off. On the upside, for him, this means I've given this one a head to make up for it. I'll have a mull over what the rest of the scene might be and finish it in pen tomorrow.
I shall be fixing that left hand though, which took a while to get right, before I realised it was on back to front.

headless again

click for biggification

drawn on a much larger scale for once (original is a4 landscape), dipping pens again, i'm getting the hang of them now.

fisherman

first attempt at drawing with a dipping pen. fair few mistakes. turns out keeping the pen full isn't quite as important as keeping it clean. there are a few thick lines in this caused by fluff on the nib. i'll have a jay cloth on stand by next time. i'll see if i can dig out a "mapping nib" from the old bits and pieces i have kicking around also.
(on the plus's i'm am chuffed with how the body shape worked out)

something vaguely fishy

something doesn't satify me about this, maybe i'll try using the character in a drawing rather than just having him stand there, or maybe its the way i've rendered it. this is the rotaring again, which had come back to life thankfully. i should still buy and experiment with some dip pens though, i think i might prefer the line.

The Man Worm

there are many reasons i'm not a creator god, this is one of them.
